Master Musician/Storyteller Bill Marx Explains & Entertains

It has long been known that music has healing powers for problems from high blood pressure to cancer, as well as depression and dementia, and on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, the renowned pianist, composer, performer and storyteller Bill Marx will demonstrate the power of music in a concert at Sun City Palm Desert. Produced by the Dementia Help Center in La Quinta, the evening’s entertainment will demonstrate how music can reduce stress, enhance memory, improve communication, and improve the quality of everyday life for people of all ages.
“The stimulation of music can help maintain everyone’s quality of life,” notes Kae Hammond, founder of Dementia Help Center and author of the best-selling book Pathways: A Guidebook for Dementia & Alzheimer’s Family Caregivers. Music therapy is an established health profession in which music is used to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of people in all walks and stages of life.  Oliver Sacks, M.D., author of “Awakenings” has said “I regard music therapy as a tool of great power in many neurological disorders — Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s — because of its unique capacity to organize or reorganize cerebral function when it has been damaged.”
“This entertaining evening will be meaningful to everyone in the audience,” reports Kae Hammond. “All humans respond to music in some way, and its healing power has been documented for centuries. Bill Marx has the talent and experience to entertain and enlighten with his piano and voice.”
This feel-good evening of soul stirring, toe tapping, hand clapping musical fun will take place starting at 7:30 in the Ballroom at Sun City, 38180 Del Webb Blvd. (off of Washington) in Palm Desert. For reserved seat tickets and information call 760-360-9986 or visit Tickets are $29.
