6th Annual Event Set to Take Place on November 14, 2012

The Annual National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon has become a much-anticipated, well-attended Coachella Valley tradition and event organizers have announced the honorees for the 6th Annual event which will take place November 14, 2012 at the Agua Caliente Casino Hotel in Rancho Mirage.

Presented by the CA Desert Communities Chapter of the Association of Professional Fundraisers, the National Philanthropy Day Awards recognizes Coachella Valley nonprofits and deserving community leaders and residents for distinction in several award categories.

Those honored at this annual event, attended by more than 400 people, exemplify leadership in the world of philanthropy and who reflect the spirit of the luncheon theme “Change the World with a Giving Heart.

AFP invites the entire community to help celebrate and honor the following recipients of the 2012 National Philanthropy Awards which represent notable Coachella Valleynonprofit entities, community organizations, and local businesses:

Outstanding Philanthropist: Annette Bloch

Established in 1960, AFP is an international association of 223 chapters which work to educate fundraisers and promote philanthropy.  AFP requires each of its 30,000 members to annually sign a Code of Ethical Principles and Standards, which is endorsed by nonprofit organizations around the world.  AFP’s mission includes increasing awareness about the importance of giving and volunteering through its education and certification programs, National Philanthropy Day celebrations, and awards for philanthropy that recognize extraordinary donors and volunteers.

Founded in 2006, the CA Desert Communities Chapter of AFP, serves fundraising professionals, executive directors and trustees of a variety of charitable organizations throughout theCoachella Valley and surrounding region.  While the chapter presents educational workshops throughout the season, its signature community event is the annual National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon. 


The CA Desert Communities Chapter of the worldwide Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) advances philanthropy by enabling people and organizations to practice effective and ethical fundraising.  Its core activities include education and training, promoting credentialing, providing resources, networking, mentoring, advocacy and recognition.
