Clients at Martha’s Village & Kitchen will get key job assistance from the Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa with their donation of over $17,000 in uniforms and work clothes. The garments to be donated are resort uniforms for men and women from the Agua Caliente Wardrobe Department, including suits, blouses, shirts, ties, and workpants in different colors and styles – most of which have never been worn.

Lorena Landeros manages the Wardrobe Department and also donates her time to Martha’s. When she heard about the need for specialized work clothes among the population here, she took the initiative and launched the clothing donation effort. “Martha’s Village provides access to employment preparation and career development to those who are struggling in our community,” Lorena observed. “I believe that by donating these garments, we can give Martha’s “customers” a professional appearance when they go out to job interviews, or when they are hired for a job. It’s truly priceless.”

Cameron Bridges, Volunteer Coordinator at Martha’s Village, sees this generous donation as one more way that Martha’s can collaborate with the community to make a real difference. “A lot of people just can’t write big checks in this economy, but still want to help people who are struggling. Volunteers like Lorena give us their time and we wouldn’t be here without people like her. Even though the [Agua Caliente] casino doesn’t need these uniforms anymore, we’re very grateful for their gift. It helps our residents look professional and advance in their job search.”
