Palm Springs Walk of Stars to honor Patty Delgado Elliott
Long time Palm Springs resident, businesswoman and civic leader, Patty Delgado Elliott, will be honored with the 336th Golden Palm Star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars. The star will be unveiled at 222 South Palm Canyon Drive on Saturday September 17, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Robert Alexander, President of the Palm Springs Walk of Stars, will preside over the event. The public and media are invited to attend. The star is sponsored by Las Casuelas Terraza.
Patty Delgado Elliott, owner of Las Casuelas Terraza restaurant in downtown Palm Springs, has operated one of the Coachella Valley’s most popular family eating establishments for the past thirty-two years. A resident of Palm Springs and the eldest third-generation member of the well-known Delgado family, Patty carries on a tradition of fine Mexican cuisine begun by her parents Maria and Florencio in 1958.
Active in serving the community through her continued support and involvement, Patty has served on the boards of directors for the Desert Regional Medical Center, the Agua Caliente Tribal Labor Relations Board and United Way of the Desert. She is currently a member of the board of directors for Shelter from the Storm and the Agua Caliente Cultural Museum. Over the years Patty has received a number of honors, including “Business Person of the Year” from the Coachella Valley Mexican American Chamber of Commerce, “Small Business Woman of the Year” for the 80th Assembly District, and as a business/civic leader by the City of Palm Springs during “Latino Heritage Month.” Recently Patty was presented with the coveted “2010 Athena Award” by the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce.
A valley resident for over 50 years, Patty attended St. Theresa’s Elementary School, Palm Springs High School and College of the Desert. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. Patty recently married her soul-mate, Ash Elliot of Portland, Oregon. With a background in teaching and the arts, Patty’s passions are cooking, reading and tennis. She is the proud mother of a talented and accomplished daughter and son, Shannon and Patrick.
Las Casuelas Terraza serves over 500,000 local customers and visitors annually. A Palm Springs landmark, the restaurant has been ranked among the “Top 50 Best Hispanic Restaurants in America” and voted “2010 Best of the Valley” for Mexican Cuisine.
